52nd Blood Donation Mela
52nd Blood Donation Mela was organized in Mukand Lal National College, Yamuna Nagar on 5th September with great zeal and enthusiasm. The college has been organizing this mela since 1972 to celebrate the birth anniversary of the founder of the college Seth Jai Prakash ji and is a pioneer institute in initiating the noble act of blood donation.
The Officiating Principal of the college Dr Anil Dhawan informed that prominent citizens, various heads of institutions ,former students,members of teaching and non -teaching faculty and voluntary blood donors donated 322 units of blood this year to the team of doctors from PGI Chandigarh and the local Red Cross Society. It is a matter of great pride that till today the college has made more than 16500 donations.
The Star Blood Donors, Sudhir Vaid (116 Units), Neeraj Kumar Malik (104 Units) and Sushil Dhull (103 Units) who had donated blood more than 100 times were honoured by Shri Ashwani Kumar (leading Industrialist) son of Seth Ashok Kumar, Chairman of Mukand Institutions.
The occasion was graced by the presence of Seth Ashok Kumar ji, Chairman of the college governing body, Dr Ramesh Kumar ji, General Secretary of Mukand institutions, Sh Ashwani Kumar, Dr Avinash Jain, Dr. R.K. Garg, Dr Ishwar Aggarwal, Dr Ajay Sharma, Mrs Shashi Bhatla, Mrs Sucheta Sagar, Dr Suchet Sachdeva, Dr. Vikas Daryal, Dr. S.K. Garg, Dr Vivek Sharma, Dr. Anil Budhiraja, Dr Avinash Singh, Dr. Subhash Sehgal and many other dignitaries from affiliated institutions. Seth Ashok Kumar ji and Dr. Ramesh Kumar ji blessed the donors and appreciated the efforts of the staff and students for the successful organization of the mela. A number of activities were organized by the various clubs and cells of the college a week ago to encourage and motivate the students to volunteer for the noble cause of blood donation. The college NSS unit, NCC unit, Red Cross Cell, Women Study Cell and other clubs and societies worked with dedication to make the Blood Donation Mela a grand success.
