N-List and Delnet

N-LIST

The Project entitled "National Library and Information Services Infrastructure for Scholarly Content (N-LIST)", being jointly executed by the e-ShodhSindhu Consortium, INFLIBNET Centre and the INDEST-AICTE Consortium, IIT Delhi provides for

cross-subscription to e-resources subscribed by the two Consortia, i.e. subscription to INDEST-AICTE resources for universities and e-ShodhSindhu resources for technical institutions; and
access to selected e-resources to colleges. The N-LIST project provides access to e-resources to students, researchers and faculty from colleges and other beneficiary institutions through server(s) installed at the INFLIBNET Centre. The authorized users from colleges can now access e-resources and download articles required by them directly from the publisher’s website once they are duly authenticated as authorized users through servers deployed at the INFLIBNET Centre.

N-LIST: Four Components

The project has four distinct components, i.e.

to subscribe and provide access to selected e-ShodhSindhu e-resources to technical institutions (IITs, IISc, IISERs and NITs) and monitor its usage;
to subscribe and provide access to selected INDEST e-resources to selected universities and monitor its usage;

to subscribe and provide access of selected e-resources to Govt./ Govt.-aided colleges and monitor its usage; and

to act as a Monitoring Agency for colleges and evaluate, promote, impart training and monitor all activities involved in the process of providing effective and efficient access to e-resources to colleges.

N-LIST offers a vast array of scholarly content, including e-books and e-journals, to participating colleges and universities. This comprehensive platform grants students, researchers, and faculty members easy access to a wide spectrum of digital resources, spanning multiple disciplines such as science, technology, humanities, social sciences, and more. By availing the N-LIST service, institutions gain valuable access to a wealth of high-quality academic material, enriching the learning and research endeavors within the academic community. This initiative plays a pivotal role in fostering a culture of knowledge dissemination and scholarly research across educational institutions in India, enhancing the academic experience for countless students and educators.

DELNET

DELNET has been established with the prime objective of promoting resource sharing among the libraries through the development of a network of libraries. It aims to collect, store, and disseminate information besides offering computerised services to users, to coordinate efforts for suitable collection development and also to reduce unnecessary duplication wherever possible.

DELNET has been actively engaged with the compilation of various Union Catalogues of the resources available in member-libraries. It has already created the Union Catalogue of Books, Union List of Current Periodicals, Union Catalogue of Periodicals, CD-ROM Database, Database of Indian Specialists, Database of Periodical Articles, Union List of Video Recordings, Urdu Manuscripts’ Database, Database of Theses and Dissertations, sample databases of language publications using GIST technology and several other databases. The data is being updated in these databases and is growing rapidly. All the DELNET databases have been resident on DELSIS, an in-house software developed on BASISPlus, an RDBMS, the product of Information Dimensions Inc. of USA which has been provided to DELNET courtesy National Informatics Centre, New Delhi.

The due acknowledgement is given to the Host Institutions/Institutions and to the respective Speakers with their Institutional Affiliations in the Portal.
