54th Blood Donation Mela

The Mukand Lal National College, Yamuna Nagar organized the 54th Blood Donation Mela on 5th September with great zeal and enthusiasm. The college is a pioneer in initiating the noble act of blood donation and has been organizing this mela since 1972 to celebrate the birth anniversary of the founder of the college Seth Jai Prakash ji. The organization of this grand mela represents the continuous endeavour of the Institution’s philanthropic spirit and service towards humanity.  

The Principal of the college Dr. Manohar Goyal informed that prominent citizens, various heads of institutions, former students, members of teaching and non -teaching faculty and volunteers donated 368 units of blood this year two teams from PGI Chandigarh and the local Red Cross Society. It is a matter of great pride that till today the college has made more than 17600 donations.

The star donors a businessman Sh. Sushil Dhall, Sh. Ashwani Kochhar and Mr. Pawan Kumar and Sh. Ravi Dawar were a source of inspiration and motivation for the donors of the day.

The occasion was presided over by Seth Ashok Kumar, Chairman of the college governing body. Dr. Ramesh Kumar, General Secretary of Mukand institutions, Dr. R.K. Garg, Dr. Anil Budhiraja, Smt. Sucheta Sagar, Dr. Avinash Jain, Sh. Satpal Kaushik and many other dignitaries from affiliated institutions were also present at the occasion. The occasion was graced by the presence of retired Principals Dr. Shailesh Kapoor, Dr. Ritu Kumar and Dr. Anil Dhawan and other retired professors of the College.

Seth Ashok Kumar and Dr. Ramesh Kumar blessed the donors and appreciated the efforts of the staff and students for the successful organization of the mela. A number of activities were organized by the various clubs, cells and societies of the college to encourage and motivate the students to volunteer for the noble cause of blood donation. The college NSS unit, NCC unit and Red Cross Cell worked with unrelented dedication to make the Blood Donation Mela a grand success.
