A joint awareness program on HIV/AIDS prevention and mental health
A joint awareness program on HIV/AIDS prevention and mental health was organized by the Red Ribbon Club, Youth Red Cross Club, NDLI Club, and National Task Force on Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Cell of Mukand Lal National College, Yamunanagar.
Mr. Ankit and Ms. Kajal from ESI Hospital, Yamunanagar, were present at the event. Mr. Ankit delivered a lecture on HIV/AIDS, informing the students about the national toll-free helpline 1097 and the NACO AIDS application, which they can use to get answers to all their questions related to AIDS. A short film was then screened to further educate the students. Poster making and slogan writing competitions were also held during the program. Himani, Ridhima, and Diksha secured the first, second, and third positions respectively in the poster making competition, while Ashpreet, Rishi, and Tulika were the winners in the slogan writing competition. The competitions were judged by Mr. Ankit and Ms. Kajal.
Sharing their thoughts on mental health and fitness, Lubanshi, Mental Health Counselor, Civil Hospital Jagadhri, Mr. Anil (Boxing Coach), Ms. Preeti (Yoga Coach), and Mr. Ayodhya (Yoga Coach) motivated the students to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
The college’s Acting Principal, Dr. Manohar Goyal, addressed the students and emphasized the importance of mental health. He advised the students to stay free from unnecessary stress, maintain a positive attitude, and exercise regularly. He appreciated the efforts of the program organizers, Dr. Savita Garg, Dr. Sumita Kanwar, and Dr. Anju Nagpal, and encouraged them to organize similar events in the future. The program concluded with a prize distribution ceremony and refreshments. Dr. Sunita Sikri, Dr. Nitya Kaushik, Dr. Rahul Singh, and Dr. Rameshwar Groch, among others, were present on the occasion.
