A poster and PowerPoint presentation competition organized by Sigma - The Mathematical Society
Mukand Lal National College, Yamunanagar, under the auspices of the Mathematics Department, successfully organized a poster and PowerPoint presentation competition organized by Sigma - The Mathematical Society. The program aimed to encourage students’ creativity, research, and presentation skills in mathematics. Students participated enthusiastically and effectively presented their views on a variety of topics.
Dr. Umang Bareja, the program coordinator, welcomed all the guests, judges, and participants, saying that mathematics isn’t just about numbers and formulas; it’s the foundation of every aspect of life. He encouraged students to develop self-confidence along with knowledge.
The jury, comprised of Dr. Deepmala and Dr. Nitya, impartially and thoroughly evaluated the participants’ presentations and posters. Department Head Dr. Rachna Agarwal, in her address, highlighted the applications of mathematics in various fields, explaining that mathematics is the fundamental force behind modern fields such as science, business, technology, architecture, and artificial intelligence. She inspired the students by stating that mathematics is not just a subject, but an effective method for solving problems, playing a vital role in the development of society.
The results of the competition were as follows:
In the Power Point Presentation Competition, Tanu and Kanika, B.Com. 3rd year, secured first position, Pawan Manchanda, B.Com. 3rd year secured second position and Sheetal, B.Sc. 2nd year secured third position.
In the poster presentation competition, Pranjana and Anu, B.Sc., second year, took first place, and Komal, B.Com., third year, took second place. The winners were honored with certificates. Acting Principal Dr. Anil Dhawan encouraged all the winners to participate in similar activities in the future and congratulated Sigma - The Mathematical Society and all the professors in the Mathematics Department for the successful organization of the event
