An online national-level mathematics essay writing competition under the aegis of Sigma—The Mathematical Society

The Department of Mathematics at Mukand Lal National College, Yamunanagar, successfully organized an online national-level mathematics essay writing competition under the aegis of "Sigma—The Mathematical Society." A total of 90 students from various colleges across the country participated in this competition.
Dr. Rachna Agarwal served as the convener of the competition. Dr. Savita, Dr. Deepmala, and Dr. Umang Bareja made significant contributions to the organizing committee.
The themes for the competition were as follows: The Role of Mathematics in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning; Mathematical Patterns in Nature (Fibonacci, Fractals, etc.); The Contribution of Mathematics to the Indian Knowledge Tradition; The Role of Women in Mathematics; and The Importance of Mathematics in Cryptography and Cyber ??Security.
In the competition results, Yashika Mehta (JMIT, Yamunanagar) secured the first position; Mahi Sharma (DMM, Kurukshetra) secured the second position; while Bharti (MLN College, Yamunanagar) and Basant Kumar (GMN College, Ambala) jointly secured the third position. The winners were awarded cash prizes of ?1,000, ?750, and ?500, respectively.
The Acting Principal of the college, Dr. Anil Dhawan, congratulated the winning students, the convener, and the organizing committee on the successful conduct of this event. He remarked that such competitions foster creativity among students and encourage their interest in mathematics.
