Department of Biology in collaboration with Mukand Eco Club and Penguin Biological Society organized Wetland-Mitra-Place and Plantation Drive
The Department of Biology of the local Mukand Lal National College, Yamuna Nagar, as per the instructions of UGC, under the “Save Wetland Campaign”, in collaboration with Mukand Eco Club and Penguin Biological Society, successfully organized “Wetland-Mitra-Place” and “Plantation Drive” on 18.01.2025. About 30 students participated in this program. The students planted saplings in the Botanical Garden of the college. On this occasion, the professors of the college also supported the students and planted saplings. Dr. Rameshwar Groch, Head of the Botany Department, administered the Wetland Mitra oath to all the students and teachers present there. Making the students aware of the importance of wetlands, he said that wetlands are very important for the purification of our environment. It is the land which is covered with water permanently and temporarily. Wetlands store water and recharge groundwater. While motivating the students to preserve wetlands, the acting principal of the college Dr Manohar Goyal said that this land is very useful for agriculture and environment. It helps in reducing climate change by absorbing greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide and methane. He congratulated the program coordinators Dr Rameshwar Groch and Dr Babita for successfully organizing the program and asked them to organize such activities in future as well.
On this occasion, Dr Sumita Kanwar, Prof Sunita Sikri, Dr Mamta Oberoi, Dr Bhavna Sethi, Assistant Prof Ina and Instructor Rakesh Sharma were also present.
