Exciting mathematical competitions were organized by Sigma

Exciting mathematical competitions were organized by Sigma: The Mathematical Society at the local Mukand Lal National College, Yamunanagar, on October 15, 2025. The objective of these competitions was to foster students’ interest in mathematics, logical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
Students from various departments participated enthusiastically in the competitions. A total of 21 students participated in seven teams, each consisting of three students. Three rounds were held: the Jumble Math Word Round, the Sudoku Round, and the Reasoning Round. In the Jumble Math Word Round, participants identified and arranged mathematical words in the correct order. In the Sudoku Round, students solved Sudoku puzzles within a time limit, testing their analytical thinking and concentration. The Reasoning Round involved questions involving logical and mathematical reasoning, which assessed participants’ mental acuity and decision-making abilities.
During the event, participants displayed excellent teamwork, creativity, and a spirit of competition. The team of Priyanka, Chetan and Drishti (B.Sc. 3rd year) secured first place.
College Principal Dr. Anil Dhawan congratulated the organizers for this excellent initiative and encouraged them to continue promoting such innovative and intellectual events. The program was successfully conducted under the direction of Dr. Umang Bareja, coordinator of Sigma: The Mathematical Society. Dr. Rachna Agarwal and Dr. Savita Garg from the Mathematics Department also made their presence felt and contributed to the success of the program.
