Extension lecture on Strategies for Sound Mental Health and Suicide Prevention

To address the rising psychological challenges among today’s youth, the National Task Force on Mental Health and Suicide Prevention at Mukand Lal National College, Yamuna Nagar, organized an impactful extension lecture titled "Strategies for Sound Mental Health and Suicide Prevention."

The session served as a vital platform for students to learn how to prioritize their psychological well-being as a foundation for a productive and healthy life.

The keynote speakers, Mrs. Lubhanshi and Mrs. Preeti from Civil Hospital Yamuna Nagar provided a comprehensive overview of the early warning signs associated with suicidal tendencies, specifically highlighting social withdrawal and volatile mood swings.
The experts emphasized a "community-first" approach for mental health, urging students to maintain active connections with their peers, practice patient, non-judgmental listening and act as bridges to professional counseling for those in distress.

Beyond crisis intervention, the lecture focused on proactive wellness. The speakers underscored the inseparable link between physical and mental health, advocating for a lifestyle that incorporates yoga and meditation to foster a resilient and balanced mindset.

The Principal of the college, Dr. Anil Dhawan, commended the organizing team for their vital initiative and stressed on the need for organizing such events to ensure that the students are equipped with higher emotional quotient necessary to navigate life’s challenges.

The event concluded with a call to action for students to challenge the taboo associated with seeking psychological help and foster an environment of mutual support on campus.
