One-Day Workshop on  ‘Sensitization of Voter and the Value of Vote in Democracy’

Electoral Literacy Club of Mukand Lal National college, Yamuna Nagar organized a One-Day Workshop on 20th Feb., 2024 in the college campus on the topic ‘Sensitization of Voter and the Value of Vote in Democracy’. The programme started at 10 o’clock with Saraswati Vandana and lamp lighting by the Chief Guest and Resource Person of the first session of the workshop Sh. Piyush Gupta, City Magistrate(CTM) and Sh. Gulshan Sharma, Naib Tehsildar, Distt Election Office, Yamuna Nagar. 

The inaugural address was given by the officiating Principal Dr. Ritu Kumar. Dr. Savita Garg, the convener of this workshop introduce to the students about all the three sessions. Sh. Piyush Gupta enlightened the students about the importance of voting right, the pros and cons of the use of EVM, possibilities of the hacking of EVM and other important issues regarding the voting system in India.  Dr. Virender Singh Dhillon, Associate Professor from Maharaja Agarshen College, Yamuna Nagar during the second session of the workshop interacted with the students about the Electoral rights and sensitization of voter. He also explained about the importance of making right choice while voting and the importance of fair and free elections. More than 275 students registered themselves for this workshop and around 500 students had the first hand experienced voting trailer with help of EVM voter verified paper audit trail (VVPAT). Dr. Anil Dhawan, Dr. Manohar Goyal, Dr. Shri Parkash, Dr. Rachna Aggarwal and other senior professors were present in the event.
